Wests Tigers playmaker Adam Doueihi has agreed to terms with the club after initially rejecting an extension offer from the club.
Doueihi hasn’t played in the NRL in over a year after tearing his ACL for the third time on his left knee in Round 6 last season.
The 25-year–old made his return via the NSW Cup last week and has been named on the extended bench for the Tigers clash against the Raiders on Sunday.
Doueihi was offered a minimum wage contract for 2025 but he knocked it back to play his way into a better deal.
It’s unclear whether the Tigers upped their offer but Doueihi has put pen to paper on a new deal that will keep him at the club until the end of next season.
The Balmain junior has played 87 NRL games after making his debut at the Rabbitohs in 2018 and then joining the Tigers in 2020.
“I’m still only 25 and I know my best years are ahead of me,” Doueihi said.
“I’ll be working as hard as I can over the rest of this season and next season and I’m excited about the years ahead.”
Wests Tigers CEO Shane Richardson added: “It’s been a very long road back from injury for Adam and it was so pleasing to see him out there last weekend. He is a tremendously talented footballer whose resilience and mental toughness cannot be questioned. And more importantly, he is a very good person.”
JMK RE-SIGNS
A star player knocking back powerhouse foundation club South Sydney for expansion minnows the Dolphins?
It was unheard of just 18 months ago but now it’s transpired with gun hooker Jeremy Marshall-King rejecting the Rabbitohs to pen a long-term extension at Redcliffe.
The Dolphins have experienced a rapid transformation since their inaugural match last March. Leading into their first season, recruiting representative players and rising stars was like pulling hen’s teeth, but they are quickly becoming a destination club.
The only place to watch every game of every round LIVE with no ad-breaks during play is Fox League, available on Kayo. New to Kayo? Start your free trial today >
Marshall-King, 28, has signed a three-year extension that will keep him at the Dolphins until the end of 2028.
The New Zealand international has been a revelation at the Dolphins from the get-go, with the crafty No. 9 making the break that led to the Dolphins’ historic first try in Round 1 last year that was scored by Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow.
Marshall-King forms an important part of the Dolphins’ spine strategy, with young half Isaiya Katoa and Tabuia-Fidow also signed to long-term deals.
“Jeremy is one of the most underrated players in the NRL competition,” Dolphins’ chief executive Terry Reader said.
“And it is fair to say that people are quickly realising how important he is to our team.”
Marshall-King has played 128 NRL matches and also represented New Zealand in two Tests as well as playing for the Maori All Stars.
“I have really enjoyed my time so far at the Dolphins,” said Marshall-King.
“I have appreciated the change since moving from Sydney and my family is enjoying life around the club.
“I am also excited by the future the Dolphins have and what we can do in the NRL over the next few years.”
