Former Married At First Sight groom Dan Hunjas has recalled a shocking story about the moment his daughter was once attacked by a kangaroo.
On Thursday, the 43-year-old shared a series of photos to Instagram in celebration of his daughter Keeley’s 18th birthday.

Among them was a photo from the archives of a kangaroo “latching” onto a young Keeley’s face.
The confronting photo raised plenty of questions for his 51,000 followers, leading Dan to make a video explaining the moment.

Dan said he came across the kangaroo in question when he and Keeley went on a trip to a zoo. “It was really friendly and sweet, or so it seemed,” he began.
“I had one of those cameras on a lanyard around my neck so I literally just leaned back and went to take the photo.
“As I hit the button this kangaroo’s just gone ‘whack!’ and latched onto my daughter’s face and started shaking her.”

Naturally, he went into protective father mode but soon found himself on the receiving end of the kangaroo’s attack.
“In that moment I dropped the camera, I launched at this roo and got her off my daughter,” he continued.

“Then this thing started attacking me. So now I’m in the fight with this kangaroo while simultaneously trying to see if my daughter is okay.”
Soon enough the kangaroo hopped away, and despite fearing the worst Dan realised that Keeley had not even a scratch from the scary encounter.

“No one was hurt, everyone was fine, we got a cool pic and a funny story and we all lived to fight another day,” he added.
“Especially the kangaroo who woke up and chose violence that day.”

Dan’s followers could not believe the shocking story.
“Wild!” his Season 10 castmate Jesse Burford commented.
Season 9’s Jackson Lonie even came through with a pun.
”I heard he was hopping mad that you got involved,” he joked.

Dan was married to Sandy Jawanda in the 2023 experiment, but they decided to end their relationship before Final Vows.
