Man arrested after fatal alleged road rage incident in western Sydney

A 39-year-old man has been arrested over an alleged road rage incident that left a younger man dead in western Sydney.

Emergency crews were called to Jersey Road in Blackett, near Mount Druitt, about 8.45am on Thursday over reports a pedestrian had been hit by a car.

Officers arrived to find a 27-year-old in high visibility clothing had been struck in the alleged road rage incident, with the driver of a white utility allegedly fleeing the crash site.

The 27-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics but died at the scene.

NSW Police and the the Crash Investigation Unit launched an investigation into the incident, with officers confirming on Friday the man allegedly behind the wheel had come forward.

The 39-year-old man attended Mount Druitt Police Station about 6.30am, where he was arrested by authorities. 

On Thursday, police said they were seeking to speak with the driver of the ute.

“The vehicle is described as being a white utility with a metal tray, a black canopy and a black toolbox with metal racks on top,” authorities said.

It is understood the victim had been in a collision with the 39-year-old man before he was fatally struck.

Earlier, a local tradie recalled the moment he saw the victim being treated by emergency services.

“I was just going to grab some drinks and I heard this guy laying on the ground,” he told the ABC.

“A couple of cops were around this area trying to do CPR for him.”
