Police have also charged a 49-year-old Mango Hill woman, who they allege knew about the abuse and failed to report it.
The 41-year-old man was arrested on April 5 this year after a lengthy investigation and charged with seven counts of rape and five counts of indecent treatment of children under 16.
It’s alleged he sexually abused a child in North Brisbane repeatedly between the years 2009 and 2018 and then went on to abuse another child on the Sunshine Coast last year.
He is being held in custody and is due to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Friday.
Detective Senior Sergeant Kerri Della-Vedova, who headed up the investigation, said offences against children are among the most horrendous as they target the most vulnerable.
“Officers work hard to detect and identify those responsible for these vile acts and bring them to justice before the court,” she said.
“The community can assist us with reporting these offences so we can help and protect victims of these heinous crimes.”
Legislation making failure to report child sex offences a crime came into effect in Queensland in 2021.
The Mango Hill woman was charged under these laws on July 2.
She is due to appear in the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on July 26.
