A man has been charged with five offences after allegedly assaulting multiple people working at one of Sydney’s biggest hospitals.
Officers were called to Westmead Hospital, in the city’s west, about 11:30pm on Friday following reports of an alleged assault.
Police said security guards aged 24, 25 and 31 were injured in the alleged incident, while a 29-year-old male hospital staff member also sustained minor injuries.
The 31-year-old suffered a dislocated shoulder, the 24-year-old sustained a laceration to his wrist and the 25-year-old suffered a laceration to his neck, police said.
A 39-year-old man was initially held under police guard in hospital, before being arrested and taken to Parramatta Police Station.
On Saturday, he was charged with two counts of assault frontline health worker – actual bodily harm, assault frontline health worker – no actual bodily harm, common assault and use etc offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention etc.
The accused was refused bail, and will appear before Parramatta Local Court on Sunday.
