The Toyota sedan came to a stop at Ipswich Boonah Road at Peak Crossing, and a man was taken into custody around 10:15am.

He’s since been charged with murder (domestic violence offence) and dangerous operation of a vehicle.

Detective Acting Superintendent Garry Watts confirmed the man and woman were in a de facto relationship.

The man surrendered into our custody,” he said.

A crime scene has been established at the home on the corner of Torres Street and Flinders Drive.

Police and SES officers are also searching for any items of interest, including a knife, that may have been used in connection with the alleged offence at Wyaralong Dam.

Detective Acting Superintendent Watts said police had visited the home in the days before she died.

“I can tell you that the police had attended that address in the last week as a result of information received,” he said.

“However no offences were detected. An investigation was conducted but there was no action taken.”

Neighbours who spoke to the ABC said a young couple lived at the property.

One neighbour described hearing fighting about 11:00pm last night at the address.

The man will appear before Ipswich Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
