An elderly pedestrian has died after he was allegedly struck by van in New South Wales’ Hunter region.
Emergency services were called to Aberdare Road in Aberdare, near Cessnock, about 5.45pm yesterday.
Police said officers arrived to find a man had allegedly been hit by a Hyundai iLoad van.
Despite the efforts of first responders and paramedics, the man died on his way to the hospital.
Police have yet to formally identify the man but believe he was in his 80s.
“The driver of the vehicle, a 64-year-old man, was taken to hospital for mandatory testing,” police said.
A crime scene has been established and, as investigations continue, police are appealing to the public for information.
