A man in his 50’s has died while diving at Wolf Rock, a popular Queensland tourist location off Rainbow Beach in the state’s Gympie region.

A scuba diver has drowned at a popular Victorian swimming spot.

The man was found unconscious in the water near Rye Pier just after 10am this morning.

He was pulled onto the pier where other divers attempted CPR.

The man, unfortunately, could not be revived.

He is yet to be formally identified.

A Gold Coast diver, 50, on Friday died during a dive at Wolf Rock, two kilometres north-northeast of Double Island Point in Cooloola, about 11:15am.

Police urge anyone who has found diving gear washed up on the beach or in water where the incident occurred to come forward, and not move it.

The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.

Wolf Rock is a challenging scuba diving and snorkelling site where competent divers brave depth, currents and low visibility.
