Man fighting for life after horror stabbing on Melbourne train

One man is fighting for his life and four others are on the run following a suspected stabbing on a Melbourne train.

Police are investigating the incident that occurred on a train travelling towards Huntingdale Station on Thursday.

“It’s understood four unknown males were on board the train about 6.45pm. The males were involved in an argument with other passengers when one of the passengers was assaulted,” a police spokesperson said.

The passenger, a man believed to be in his 30s, suffered an upper-body laceration before the four men fled the area.

The victim was taken to Dandenong Hospital in a critical condition, the Herald Sun reports.

The Pakenham and Cranbourne Lines faced major delays following the incident, which Metro Trains called a “police request”.

“Consider alternate travel options,” it said, before advising of available bus replacement options between Caufield and Westall.
