A six-hour manhunt has ended with an arrest after a man allegedly stabbed his partner to death in Sydney’s west.
The woman, in her 20s, was found with two stab wounds to her chest after officers were called to a home on the Great Western Highway in Kingswood about 1:40pm on Monday.
Emergency services were alerted to the incident after another person in the home raised the alarm and called Triple Zero.
Officers attached to Nepean Police Area Command arrived at the scene where they found the woman, believed to be in her 20s.
She was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.
She is yet to be formally identified and a report is set to be prepared for the coroner.
Police were told a 22-year-old man was spotted running from the area, triggering a major manhunt for him.
The man was arrested after 7pm just two kilometres away from where the woman, understood to be his partner, was left for dead.
He was then taken to Penrith Police Station where he assisted police with their inquiries.
A crime scene was established and inquiries into the incident have commenced but police say there is no ongoing threat to the public.
The Daily Telegraph reports half a dozen police cars carrying officers and specialist detectives have been parked outside the property and the entrance is taped off to the public.
A group of people were seen outside the property in tears and were being comforted by detectives.
