A 21-year-old woman has been stabbed to death in a unit at Kingswood in Sydney’s west and a manhunt is under way to find her partner, who was seen running away from the horrific scene.
Police are appealing to the public for help to find a 21-year-old man of Islander heritage, with a solid build, black hair and last seen wearing a black jumper, pants and beanie and a black and red basketball singlet.
Emergency services were called to a unit complex on the Great Western Highway just after 1.40pm on Monday, and found the young woman with serious injuries including two stab wounds to her chest.
“It’s alleged that a 21-year-old male in a domestic relationship with this person is the perpetrator of this incident and caused those injuries to the female,” said Detective Superintendent Trent King, the Nepean Area commander.
“He is now wanted in relation to her death. He was last seen on foot running from the unit complex.”
Paramedics and police worked to save the woman “for a prolonged period”, King said, but she died at the scene. She is yet to be formally identified.
The woman and man lived in a share-house and flatmates alerted the police over the incident.
The man was known to police due to some minor transport infringements but there was no history of violent acts on police records, King said.
“We do know who he is, however at this stage the investigation is very early on and there are further processes to be completed before I can release that information,” he said.
