Australian actress and the producer of box-office hit Barbie Margot Robbie is expecting her first child.
According to numerous reports from the US, the 34-year-old Queensland-born star is pregnant with her husband, fellow Barbie producer Tom Ackerley. The two work together through their production company LuckyChap Entertainment.
Robbie was photographed in a midriff crop top, showing off her “bump” while the couple were holidaying in Italy’s Lake Como at the weekend.
Robbie and Ackerley have not publicly confirmed the news, with their representatives declining to comment when asked by People magazine.
British-born Ackerley, also 34, co-founded the production company LuckyChap Entertainment with Robbie, which produced the eight-time Oscar nominated 2023 box-office hit Barbie in which she co-starred alongside Ryan Gosling.
The film, directed by Greta Gerwig, grossed more than $2.1 billion worldwide and created a huge merchandising phenomenon for Mattel, which has been making Barbie and Ken dolls since the late 1950s.
The couple met on set working on the film Suite Française in 2013, started dating a year later and were married in 2016. Robbie, who first appeared on screen in 2008 in Neighbours, had her breakthrough performance in the 2013 Martin Scorsese film The Wolf of Wall Street.
Ackerley, also an actor before moving into producing, portrayed a Hogwarts student in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. They are co-producers on many film and TV projects including I Tonya, in which Robbie played ice skater Tonya Harding, Promising Young Woman, Saltburn and the Netflix hit series Maid.
Following on from the success of Barbie, their production company is now producing Monopoly, a live-action feature film based on the real estate-inspired board game.
