MotoGP™ returned to action for the next chapter of the season at the Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland, with Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) returning to the top of the timesheets in Germany. The #89 had some late drama after his airbag went off which forced an early end to the session. Martin set a fantastic 1:20.584 earlier in the session, heading the field and remaining 0.150s clear of Marc Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) in P2. The #93 also had an eventful session, after a crash in the final five minutes of the session on the entry to Turn 1. However, third place went the way of Maverick Viñales, who will be the sole Aprilia Racing rider on the grid after Aleix Espargaro withdrew due to an injury sustained at Assen.
Meanwhile, it was an impressive morning for Miguel Oliveira (Trackhouse Racing), who stormed to fourth after an impressive late time. Rounding out the top five was Pedro Acosta (Red Bull GASGAS Tech3), who suffered a fall in the final minute at Turn 13 – bringing an early end to his FP1. The #31 set an identical time to his Red Bull GASGAS Tech3 teammate Augusto Fernandez, who had a solid start to the weekend and placed ahead of Enea Bastianini (Ducati Lenovo Team) in seventh.
Alex Marquez (Gresini Racing MotoGP™) was eighth as the chequered flag flew, setting a strong time early on which would be good enough to finish ahead of Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team). The #1 continues to show incredible consistency in 2024 and has a chance to take the Championship lead in Germany. Meanwhile, Trackhouse Racing’s Raul Fernandez rounded out the top 10 spots ahead of Practice this afternoon.
Further down the order, Fabio Quartararo (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™ Team) was 14th position ahead of his teammate for the weekend, Remy Gardner (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP™ Team), who was 22nd on his return to the premier class.
Next up is the battle for Q2 with Practice for MotoGP™ kicking off at 15:00 local time (UTC +2), so make sure you keep up to date with all of the action on motogp.com because you do not want to miss it!
