It’s a very early start for the 10-race program in Hobart on Sunday, with the first event scheduled for 10:35.
The rail moves out to the +11m position, and the weather forecast points towards a track in the soft range.

Best bet
Race 5, No.4 – Gee Gee Miss Quita
Gee Gee Miss Quita went into several black books after her first-up run over 1200m and duly saluted over 1600m at the last Hobart meeting. She was ridden a treat there by Siggy Carr, who hunted up behind the leaders, before showing a good turn of foot in the home straight. The 5YO mare drops 2.5kg for Sunday’s contest and hasn’t missed the top three in six starts at the track and distance. It’s very hard to see her not figuring in the finish.
Next best
Race 4, No.5 – Wickham Light
Wickham Light is clearly the progressive horse in Sunday’s 2100m maiden/class 1. Well-fancied in a $50k 3YO race two starts ago, Wickham Light was snagged to the tail from a wide draw last start, tactics that cost him the race in a dawdling affair where daring tactics from the winner were rewarded. The 3YO is on trial at the trip but looks like the winner if he sees out the staying journey.
Best value
Race 3, No.10 – Rare Oro
One horse will have a June Christmas in what’s a limited 1100m maiden. Rare Oro was good at her second Tasmanian start, punching the breeze three-wide for most of the contest and boxing into the placings. This race doesn’t look any harder, and she’ll come in a couple from barrier 10 if the emergencies don’t gain a start. Likely worth an each-way ticket in a race with lots of queries.
