NASHVILLE – Head men’s basketball coach Brian “Penny” Collins announced the addition of three new players for the 2024-25 season: Maddux Bodenhamer, JC Brooks, and Josh Ogundele.
Bodenhamer and Brooks come from the high school ranks, while Ogundele joins the squad as a transfer.
Maddux Bodenhamer, a guard from Nashville, comes to TSU from Antioch High School, where he helped lead his team to a 21-9 record as a senior. Bodenhamer scored over 1,000 points at Riverdale High School in Murfreesboro before attending Antioch. He started his senior season with a 29-point performance over the University School of Nashville. Bodenhamer averaged 15.3 ppg, 5.2 rpg, and 4.4 apg while earning 1st Team All-District honors as a senior.
“I’ve known Maddux his whole life. We are excited to add him to our program,” stated coach Collins. “He is a big physical guard who comes from a basketball family where both his parents are coaches!”
JC Brooks joins the team with four years of eligibility after finishing his prep career at The Orangeville Prep in Mono, Ontario. The 6-10 forward played at Coronado High School in Las Vegas as a junior before returning to Canada, where he once represented his country on the FIBA U16 Canadian team in 2021. Brooks helped Orangeville to a 12-6 record and an appearance in the OSBA Men’s Semi-Final game this past year.
“JC is a versatile forward with a high basketball IQ and feel for the game,” relayed Collins. “He played for Larry Blount and Orangeville Prep, one of the top schools for development in the country, so I know he will come in ready to play.”
Josh Ogundele comes to the Music City after playing the previous season at Middle Tennessee State and three seasons at Iowa. The seven-footer brings a wealth of experience to Collins’ squad. In the 2023-24 season at MTSU, Ogundele averaged 3.8 points and 2.8 rebounds in 8.9 minutes per game across nine games before a season-ending injury. At Iowa, he played three seasons, with his best statistical year in 2021-22, posting 29 points, 24 rebounds, five blocks, and four steals in 19 contests. Ogundele was a standout at Worcester Academy in high school, averaging 7.3 points and four rebounds as a junior. He also played for the Boston Amateur Basketball Club (BABC) in Nike’s Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL), averaging 13.4 points and 13.8 rebounds. Additionally, Ogundele represented Great Britain at the 2016 National Team level, earning a silver medal.
“Really excited about the big fella Josh,” Collins echoed. “We really needed to solidify our front court and he checked every box. He is coming in with experience and ready to contribute right away.”
