Men’s Basketball Inks Ponderosa High’s Aaron Bliss – Snow College Athletics

Must read

Snow College men’s basketball Head Coach Andrew May has announced the signing of Aaron Bliss, a 6’9 freshman big man from Ponderosa High School in Shingle Springs, CA.

“Aaron is a long, athletic, and smart player,” May said. “Aaron is a versatile big guy with a great motor. His ability to consistently bring his intense focus is impressive. He has really good timing as a shot blocker and does well on the glass rebounding. Also, his ability to shoot from the perimeter and drive makes him a tough matchup. We welcome Aaron Bliss to the Snow Badger family.”

As a senior captain, Bliss led his Ponderosa Bruins to a 27-1 record and the number 1 overall seed in the CIF Division II playoffs. His team also 3-peated as Foothill Valley League champs where he was chosen as the league MVP. Bliss was one of only 17 players named to the MaxPreps 2021-2022 All-Northern California Basketball Team. Bliss was also named to the MaxPreps 2021-2022 California All-State Division II second team as well as the SacBee’s Sacramento area Player of the Year.

As a senior, Bliss led his team in scoring averaging 15 points per game. He was also 11th in California in rebounds per game averaging 13.5. Bliss was 87th in the nation and 12th in California in double-doubles with 20 on the year. Finally, Bliss was 37th in the country and fifth in California in blocked shots with 4.6 blocks per game. Bliss is currently serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Quezon City, Philippines.

“There are many reasons why I chose Snow,” Bliss said. “I really do feel that everyone on the staff, especially Coach May, can get me where I want to go–Division 1 basketball. Despite all the other reasons behind my choice, one above all has kept me grounded in my decision: It may sound cliché, but I know that Snow College is where God needs me to be.”
