MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — JJ Zimmer, a standout junior and collegiate golfer, will join Middle Tennessee Men’s Golf for the 2024-25 season, head coach Mark McEntire announced on Friday.
A transfer from Division-II Union University, where Zimmer was an all-conference golfer, the Jackson, Tenn. native will join the Blue Raiders with one year of eligibility remaining in his collegiate career.
“I am very excited to get JJ to campus,” McEntire said. “We will lean on his experience next year with some new faces. He is a very accomplished player with a tremendous resume! Glad he will be wearing Blue!”
A three-time All-Gulf South Conference First Team selection for the Bulldogs, Zimmer posted four top-15 finishes for Union as a junior, helping the Bulldogs qualify for their first ever NCAA Regional as a team in Men’s Golf. Prior to his junior season, Zimmer was the first ever individual qualifier to the NCAA Regional for Union Men’s Golf, qualifying as an individual in both 2022 and 2023. He finished in the Top-5 eight times in nine tournaments as a sophomore and was the GSC’s Freshman of the Year in 2022 after posting seven top-10 finishes in 10 tournaments.
As a prep golfer, Zimmer won the 2019 Tennessee State Title in golf while representing Crockett County High School. He holds the course record of 59 at the Humboldt Golf and Country Club.
