Marta Kostyuk of Ukraine’s Wimbledon whites have a meaningful story behind them, with the Wilson tennis dress being inspired by her own wedding gown.
Kostyuk enlisted the help of Wilson in the design of her wedding dress for her wedding to George Kyzymenko last year.
The sports equipment company created a comfortable and sleek gown that featured a plunging V-neckline and a ruched, cut-out back, covered completely in hand-appliquéd flowers.
Her game ensemble was much the same, though they opted out of the flowers and cut it into a mini-dress.
Kostyuk described it to Wilson as “light, comfortable, feminine [and] beautiful,” adding, “Everything that was in my wedding dress is the same in the tennis dress because it’s the way I live my life on and off the court.”
The dress is now available to purchase on Wilson’s site as “The Marta Dress”, and also comes with a version with an overlay.
“I think after Wimbledon is over, I will put this dress in the frame and hang it on the wall somewhere for sure,” she said, “It definitely will be one of the highlights of my life and my career. I mean what … else can you ask for?”
