Minnesota State Women’s Basketball Signs Two Transfers – Minnesota State University – Mankato Athletics

MANKATO, Minn. – Minnesota State women’s basketball head coach Emilee Thiesse is pleased to announce the signing of Emily Dreckman and Adeline Kent. Dreckman is transferring to Minnesota State from Kirkwood CC and Kent comes from the University of Tampa. Both players will join the Mavericks for the 2024-25 season.
 
“We are thrilled to be welcoming Emily and Adeline to our Maverick family,” said Coach Thiesse. “With a great deal of momentum coming off our National Championship, we couldn’t be more excited to add these two players from highly successful programs. Their National Tournament experience will help us continue to move Maverick basketball forward.”
 
Dreckman is an incoming junior from Marcus, Iowa. In 2023-24, the 5’10” guard averaged just under 10 points, 3.5 rebounds, two assists and 1.3 steals per game while shooting 41.5% from the field and 38.7% from beyond the arc. She scored a season-high 21 points in a game against Illinois Central College, shooting 8-11 in the contest. She recorded a season-high four steals five separate times last season. Dreckman was well decorated at Kirkwood, making two ICCAC All-Region teams and helping the Eagles win a NJCAA National Championship in 2024. At MMCRU High School, she was a well-decorated three-sport athlete, playing volleyball and softball as well as basketball.
 
“Emily’s length and versatility will be a huge asset to our wing spot after graduating much of our size in that position. She has established herself as an outstanding shooter with great range that will help stretch the floor offensively. With a National Championship under her belt, Emily is a proven and we know she will fit well with our winning culture.”
 
Dreckman will be studying sport management at Minnesota State. Her parents are Bruce and Danae Dreckman.
 
Kent will be a sophomore for the Mavericks next season. She is a guard and stands at 5’7″. The Becker, Minnesota native played in 15 games her freshman season with the Spartans. She scored a season-high five points and had two assists in a win against Notre Dame (Ohio). At Becker High School, Kent was named to three Minnesota All-State teams, was a Miss Basketball candidate and led BHS to a state championship in her senior year.
 
“We are so happy to be bringing Addy back home to Minnesota where her prep hoops success runs deep. She has been a part of two consecutive NCAA Division II Elite 8 finishes and knows what it takes to compete at the highest level. Addy is a springy defender with great anticipation and a tenacity for the ball. She will be a natural fit in our aggressive defensive system, and we look for her make an impact with her ability to create offensive scoring opportunities as well.”
 
Kent intends to study public relations at MSU. Her parents are Brandon and Julie Kent.
