Missouri Southern Basketball Adds Nine Names to Next Year’s Roster

JOPLIN, MO – Missouri Southern Lions basketball has had a busy offseason, as head coach Sam McMahon has added nine recruits to next year’s roster.

Tyrique Brooks, Hunter Fitch, Cooper Francis, and Cody Lechlider will make up the new freshman class.

Brooks would have a spectacular high school career at Springfield Central High School, scoring more than 1500 points, and earning class six co-player of the year accolades. Fitch, is a 6’8″ forward from Mexia High School in Texas, and would average a double-double in his career. Francis attended Salisbury High School and earned conference player of the year honors in his last season. Lechlider, is a 6’5″ guard from Owasso High School, and would help his team win its first ever state championship.

Gavyn Elkamil, Jamari Lawrence, Cortaviaus Seales, Jaden Taylor and Tyrone Wright will make up the transfer class. Elkamil will arrive as a 6’5″ guard from Southeast Missouri State. Lawrence will arrive as a 6’1″ guard from Southwestern Christian College. Seales will arrive as a 6’1″ guard from Western New Mexico University. Taylor will arrive as a 6’3″ guard from Southwest Tennessee Community College. Wright will arrive as a 6’9″ forward from Marion Military Institute in Marion, Alabama.
