“Moral”: Nick Quinn declares New Zealand mare

Must read

Leading form analyst Nick Quinn has declared La Crique at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

The star galloper from New Zealand will make her way to Australia seeking revenge after she disappointed in her first preparation down under when flopping as the odds-on favourite in the 2022 Empire Rose.

She ran fourth on that day and has since returned home to New Zealand where she’s managed just one win from eight starts.

With trainers Katrina and Simon Alexander chasing that infamous Queensland winter sun, La Crique will has been met with significant market support in the Magic Millions National Classic for jockey James McDonald.

Jumping from barrier seven, Quinn expects the five-year-old mare to have a perfect run in the 11-horse field over 1600m.

“La Crique is a moral,” Quinn told SENTrack’s Ladbrokes Winter Breakfast Show.

“La Crique is the best bet anywhere across the country for mine. I’m just very keen on her as I think she’ll get a perfect run in transit and I think she will be winning.

“Moral.”

Ladbrokes are keeping La Crique safe in the market in by making her the dominant $2.30 favourite.

Foxy Frida for Victorian trainer Andrew Noblet and star jockey Blake Shinn is the $5 second favourite.
