A young mum has ignited a fierce debate among Oreo lovers after revealing hidden biscuits at the bottom of a tub of the brand’s iconic ice cream.
American mum Lena claimed Oreo biscuits can be found hidden at the bottom of the popular blue tubs.
Lena shared the sweet secret in a very convincing TikTok video which has been watched over seven million times – but some Oreo fans were left unconvinced.
In the clip, Lena is seen scooping all of the ice cream from the tub before using a knife to carefully lift the bottom lid, exposing two Oreos underneath.
‘This is why you always check the bottom of Oreo Ice Cream tubs,’ she said.
Thousands of viewers were wowed by the video with many wondering how many biscuits they’ve thrown out over the years.
And the official Oreo TikTok account, which boasts 2.1million followers, commented: ‘Finally someone figured it out!’
But others weren’t convinced and dubbed the video as ‘fake’ or a ‘marketing strategy’.
Mondelez International, the company that owns Oreos, told FEMAIL the Australian tub doesn’t have the false bottom.
‘The product in the TikTok is not the OREO ice cream tub we have here in Australia, and we do not have OREO cookies in the base of our local tub,’ the spokesperson said.
‘I never knew this about Oreos,’ one commented on the video.
‘Wait I’ve been wasting Oreos!?’ another said.
A third couldn’t help but ask: ‘Is this real?’
Someone else added: ‘This reminds me the hidden Nutella knife.’
But most people laughed at the video and labelled it as a ‘spoof’.
‘Why you gotta lie?’ one asked.
‘So you’re telling me those Oreo cookies are waterproof?’ another said, as Lena washed the tub after removing the ice cream.
‘I find this hard to believe,’ another declared.
Others dubbed it a clever ‘marketing strategy’.
Earlier this week shoppers started rushing to Aldi Australia to get their hands on a stash of American chocolate, lollies, snacks and sauces.
The German-owned supermarket chain released the selection across stores last week in the ‘Special Buys’ middle aisle.
Maraya, who runs the ‘Stuff Mums Like’ website, stumbled across the snacks and posted a series of images on Facebook.
‘It’s American food week at Aldi! So many fun treats to try. It would be so fun to do an American treat night with your kids so they can try stuff they’ve only seen in books and on TV,’ she wrote.
