An Australian woman who moved in with her partner was shocked to discover his ‘secret obsession’ with a female neighbour.

Posting on a women’s Facebook group, the distressed girlfriend was ‘tripping out’ over her partner’s ‘deep hatred for his neighbour for no reason’.

The man insulted the neighbour at ‘every opportunity’, calling her names and mocking the way she dresses.

‘Yet when I confront him about why he hates her so much, he shrugs it off and gets annoyed,’ she said.

The girlfriend’s suspicion turned to incredulity when she noticed her partner had sent the neighbour a Facebook friend request, despite claiming to hate her.

However, the boyfriend insisted he only sent the request because he has ‘all the neighbours on social media’.

During a quiet evening in, things went from bad to worse.

While watching a movie, the girlfriend asked her partner to close the curtains.

His window opened onto a view of the neighbour who was outside at the time, and he refused to draw the curtains, creeping out his girlfriend.

The girlfriend was flooded with advice from concerned women.

‘He likes her, she won’t give him a chance,’ said one.

The worried responses intensified when the woman revealed she once ‘made a joke to him that he was obsessed’ and her boyfriend ‘seemed rubbed the wrong way’.

Facebook users weren’t buying the man’s excuses.

‘If I were you I’d be questioning if he was really the man for me. I’d actually be tempted to go and chat with her and find out what interactions she’s had with him,’ one said.

Everyone agreed the suspicious behaviour ‘100 per cent’ meant ‘he has previously hit on her and she rejected his advances, so now he is ‘hostile’ and deflecting.

‘This is giving me psychotic stalker vibes,’ one said.

The anonymous poster agreed, saying it hadn’t occurred to her to question how her partner even knew the neighbour’s full name for the Facebook friend request.

Two days later, she updated the group with news she had caught him watching the neighbour from afar and also discovered her picture on his phone.

‘I think he’s maybe stalking her. I talked to him about my concerns and was met with a kick-off so that told me all I need to know. I found a picture of her in his phone also. Surely to god this is more than a little crush? I’ve not been back to his since,’ she said.

‘I said to him during an argument, “Anyone would think you was in love with her,” and he went quiet. I don’t know to do now.’
