Hundreds are debating whether it’s ‘unAustralian’ to mow your side of the lawn on the median strip and not your neighbour’s.
A passerby shared a snap of their local strip on Reddit where half the lawn was freshly cut and a small section – the next-door neighbour’s portion – was not.
He dubbed the act ‘unAustralian’ – and while many agreed, others said it perfectly illustrated modern life Down Under.
Several argued it was not a homeowner’s responsibility to mow the lawn in front of an adjacent property.
Others said it was the height of rudeness to only cut your own lawn and leave the rest.

Many Redditors labelled it ‘the most Australian thing they’ve ever seen’.
‘It’s a construction site, tradies can do it themselves,’ one Redditor observed.
‘Bloke already lives next to a building site. Why would he want to mow it too?’ another wrote.
‘I don’t know about unAustralian. I’ve got some mates with neighbours that have complained when he did mow a section like that,’ another agreed.
‘Mate, that’s peak Aussie right there.’
One more added: ‘What’s unAustralian? Not mowing the front lawn of the building site next door? F*** that, I’m not doing any favours to the building company.’
‘Mow your own f****** lawn,’ said another.
Others said they often cut the entire section of lawn.
‘There is no blanket rule. If your neighbour is half-decent, do it,’ one said.
‘I used to do the people’s next door. I had never even talked to them before and just thought it was the right thing to do,’ another said.
‘If I’m mowing an area of lawn, I’ll do up to the driveways on each side. It feels passive-aggressive to mow a hard line down wherever the property border is.’
‘I will occasionally edge and mow the neighbours council strip area as it gets overgrown and he works long hours. He usually offers to clean it up and I go, “Nah, don’t worry.” If it was someone that took an interest in lawns, I wouldn’t ever do it,’ another added.

Last month, a mum confessed that she fills her neighbour’s bins on garbage collection night when she does not have enough space in her own.
Brooke Bliss said her red bins fill up rapidly because of the diapers and everyday waste that has accumulated from her family of five.
When it’s bin night, she discreetly puts her trash in her neighbours’ bins, which are placed outside for collection.
‘I wait until the dark of night, and I put some bin bags in other neighbours’ bins,’ she said in a video posted to social media.
