Analysis: The Tigers welcome back centre Justin Olam, who returns from suspension. 22-year-old winger Alexander Lobb comes in for his second NRL game. He’ll push Charlie Staines into the centres. Alex Twal played well last game at lock forward, but due to Dave Klemmer’s suspension, Twal is back in the front row. Alex Seyfarth will start in the back row with Isaiah Papalii to miss the next two months through injury. 27-year-old Reuben Porter will make his NRL debut. The back rower, who has played four tests for the Cook Islands, will come off the bench.

SATURDAY

Gold Coast Titans vs. South Sydney Rabbitohs 3pm, AEST at Cbus Super Stadium

Titans: 1. Keano Kini 2. Alofiana Khan-Pereira 3. Brian Kelly 4. Phillip Sami 5. Jojo Fifita 6. Chris Randall 7. Kieran Foran 8. Moeaki Fotuaika 9. Sam Verrills 10. Josiah Pahulu 11. David Fifita 12. Analysis: Jayden Campbell has been named on the extended bench after more than six weeks on the sideline with a knee injury. Considering the form fullback Keano Kini is in, Campbell will likely play in the halves if promoted to the 17. Kieran Foran is back from a hamstring injury. The return of Phil Sami is a huge boost. He and returning winger Jojo Fifita will play on the right edge. Origin star Moe Fotuaika has been named as a starting prop. Beau Fermor played centre against Brisbane but has shifted over the back row with Keenan Palasia dropping to the bench.

Rabbitohs: 1. Latrell Mitchell 2. Alex Johnston 3. Taane Milne 4. Richard Kennar 5. Jacob Gagai 6. Jack Wighton 7. Cody Walker 8. Davvy Moale 9. Damien Cook 10. Sean Keppie 11. Michael Chee Kam 12. QLD will worry about themselves, not NSW | 01:36

NQ Cowboys vs. New Zealand Warriors 5:30pm, AEST at QLD Country Bank Stadium

Cowboys team: 1. Scott Drinkwater 2. Kyle Feldt 3. Jaxon Purdue 4. Viliami Vailea 5. Braidon Burns 6. Jake Clifford 7. Chad Townsend 8. Jordan McLean 9. Sam McIntyre 10. Griffin Neame 11. Heilum Luki 12. Kulikefu Finefeuiaki 13. Thomas Mikaele 14. Tomas Chester 15. Harrison Edwards 16. Jamal Shibasaki 17. Jason Taumalolo 18. Thomas Duffy 19. Valentine Holmes 20. Murray Taulagi 21. Tom Dearden 22. Reece Robson 23. Jeremiah Nanai 24. Reuben Cotter

Analysis: Like he did after Game I last year, Todd Payten has named his Origin reps on an extended bench. It’s worth noting that all of those players backed up three nights later last season. Tom Chester was a late out last week, replaced by debutant Jaxson Purdue, who impressed to keep his spot. Purdue keeps his starting spot for now with Chester in jersey No. 14.

Warriors team: 1. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad 2. Dallin Watene-Zelezniak 3. Rocco Berry 4. Adam Pompey 5. Marcelo Montoya 6. Chanel Harris-Tavita 7. Te Maire Martin 8. Addin Fonua-Blake 9. Wayde Egan 10. Jackson Ford 11. Marata Niukore 12. Mitchell Barnett 13. Tohu Harris 14. Dylan Walker 15. Jazz Tevaga 16. Tom Ale 17. Kurt Capewell 18. Freddy Lussick 20. Taine Tuaupiki 21. Bunty Afoa 22. Edward Kosi 23. Moala Graham-Taufa

Analysis: A huge week of ins for the Wahs! Prop Addin Fonua-Blake returns after being stood down for the win over the Dolphins. Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad, Rocco Berry, Kurt Capewell and Wayde Egan all return to the line-up. Shaun Johnson hasn’t been named at all as he continues to deal with that pec injury.

Brisbane Broncos vs. Cronulla Sharks, 7:35pm AEST at Suncorp Stadium

Broncos team: 1. Reece Walsh 2. Corey Oates 3. Kotoni Staggs 4. Selwyn Cobbo 5. Deine Mariner 6. Ezra Mam 7. Jock Madden 8. Corey Jensen 9. Billy Walters 10. Payne Haas 11. Brendan Piakura 12. Jordan Riki 13. Patrick Carrigan 14. Tyson Smoothy 15. Xavier Willison 16. Kobe Hetherington 17. Jack Gosiewski 18. Joshua Rogers 19. Fletcher Baker 20. Blake Mozer 21. Martin Taupau 22. Josiah Karapani 23. Tristan Sailor 24. Jaiyden Hunt

Analysis: In a big boost for the Broncos, star centre Kotoni Staggs is back from a rib injury. And Origin quartet Reece Walsh, Selwyn Cobbo, Payne Haas and Pat Carrigan have been named to play provided they get through Wednesday’s game unscathed. Fullback Tristan Sailor, prop Fletcher Baker and centre Josiah Karapani are among the players on standby in the reserves.

Sharks team: 1. William Kennedy 2. Sione Katoa 3. Jesse Ramien 4. Kayal Iro 5. Ronaldo Mulitalo 6. Daniel Atkinson 7. Braydon Trindall 8. Thomas Hazelton 9. Blayke Brailey 10. Oregon Kaufusi 11. Briton Nikora 12. Siosifa Talakai 13. Cameron McInnes 14. Jack Williams 15. Toby Rudolf 16. Royce Hunt 17. Tuku Hau Tapuha 18. Mawene Hiroti 19. Billy Burns 20. Jayden Berrell 21. Niwhai Puru 22. Jesse Colquhoun

Analysis: Coach Craig Fitzgibbon has made the early call on star halfback Nicho Hynes, who will have his first start for NSW in Origin I on Wednesday. Given Hynes was nursing a calf niggle – and the fact he’ll be coming off arguably the biggest game of his career – Fitzgibbon will be resting his No.7 this weekend. Braydon Trindall will once again partner Daniel Atkinson in the halves. Cameron McInnes, however, has been named to start despite his looming Origin debut on Wednesday night. Meanwhile, Teig Wilton has been ruled out due to a shoulder injury, which sees Siosifa Talakai named to start in the second row. Hulking prop Tuku Hau Tapuha returns to the 17 after an impressive performance in NSW Cup and replaces Braden Hamlin-Uele.

SUNDAY JUNE 9

Melbourne Storm vs. Newcastle Knights, 2pm AEST at AAMI Park

Storm team: 1. Sualauvi Faalogo 2. Grant Anderson 3. Reimis Smith 4. Nick Meaney 5. Xavier Coates 6. Tyran Wishart 7. Jahrome Hughes 8. Christian Welch 9. Harry Grant 10. Tui Kamikamica 11. Shawn Blore 12. Eliesa Katoa 13. Josh King 14. Bronson Garlick 15. Trent Loiero 16. Nelson Asofa-Solomona 17. Alec MacDonald 18. Joe Chan 19. Jack Howarth 20. Young Tonumaipea 21. Kane Bradley 22. Dean Ieremia

Analysis:Will Warbrick is out with a groin injury, which means Grant Anderson jumps onto the wing and Bronson Garlick joins the bench in the only changes made to the Storm, who are fresh off the bye. Origin stars Harry Grant and Xavier Coates have been named to back up.

Knights team: 1. David Armstrong 2. Enari Tuala 3. Dane Gagai 4. Krystian Mapapalangi 5. Greg Marzhew 6. Jack Cogger 7. Jackson Hastings 8. Jacob Saifiti 9. Jayden Brailey 10. Leo Thompson 11. Kai Pearce-Paul 12. Dylan Lucas 13. Adam Elliott 14. Phoenix Crossland 15. Daniel Saifiti 16. Tyson Frizell 17. Brodie Jones 18. Thomas Cant 19. Mathew Croker 20. Will Pryce 21. Jack Hetherington 22. Fletcher Sharpe

Analysis: Coach Adam O’Brien has resisted making any changes to his team after a lacklustre performance against the Bulldogs last week. In some promising news for the club, Daniel Saifiti has been named despite picking up a knee injury – however Jack Hetherington has been named in the reserves should he be needed.

Penrith Panthers vs. Manly Sea Eagles, 4:05pm AEST at BlueBet Stadium

Panthers team: 1. Daine Laurie 2. Sunia Turuva 3. Izack Tago 4. Paul Alamoti 5. Brian To’o 6. Jack Cole 7. Jarome Luai 8. Moses Leota 9. Mitch Kenny 10. James Fisher-Harris 11. Scott Sorensen 12. Liam Martin 13. Isaah Yeo 14. Trent Toelau 15. Lindsay Smith 16. Liam Henry 17. Luke Garner 18. Brad Schneider 19. Mavrik Geyer 20. Matt Eisenhuth 21. Jesse McLean 22. Preston Riki 23. Dylan Edwards 24. Tyrone Peachey

Analysis: Mixed news for the Panthers with Brian To’o, Jarome Luai, Liam Martin and Isaah Yeo all named pending their appearance for the Blues Wednesday. They will be without workhorse fullback Dylan Edwards though, who suffered a quad strain while in camp with NSW, although interestingly, Edwards has been named on the extended bench. Daine Laurie will once again don the No.1 jersey in his absence, while Trent Toelau retains his spot on the bench after his NRL debut last week. With the Origin stars’ return, Liam Henry and Lindsay Smith revert to the bench with Preston Riki, Mav Geyer and Tyrone Peachey dropping out of the 17.

Sea Eagles team: 1. Lehi Hopoate 2. Jason Saab 3. Tolutau Koula 4. Reuben Garrick 5. Tommy Talau 6. Luke Brooks 7. Daly Cherry-Evans 8. Taniela Paseka 9. Karl Lawton 10. Josh Aloiai 11. Haumole Olakau’atu 12. Ben Trbojevic 13. Jake Trbojevic 14. Gordon Chan Kum Tong 15. Corey Waddell 16. Toafofoa Sipley 17. Nathan Brown 18. Ethan Bullemor 19. Raymond Tuiamalo Vaega 20. Jaxson Paulo 21. Jamie Humphreys 22. Ben Condon 23. Jake Simpkin

Analysis: Tolu Koula is back from a shoulder injury, but interestingly teen rookie Lehi Hopoate has retained his spot at fullback with Koula named in the centres. That sees Tommy Taulau shift to the wing and Raymond Tuiamalo Vaega dropping to the reserves. Veteran halfback Daly Cherry-Evans has been named to back up from Origin and coach Anthony Seibold will be hoping he can do exactly that after the revelation that back-up half Jakob Arthur is unavailable due to a foot injury. If Cherry-Evans is unable to play, we could see Jamie Humphreys come into the side for his NRL debut. Toafofoa Sipley returns to the 17 after a strong performance in NSW Cup, pushing Ethan Bullemor to the reserves. And there’s still no sign of Lachlan Croker, who is nursing a neck injury. Mid-season recruit Jake Simpkin has been named with the extended squad after signing with Manly this week.

Eels 2025 coach candidates revealed | 03:25

MONDAY

Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs vs. Parramatta Eels, 4pm AEST at Accor Stadium

Bulldogs team: 1. Connor Tracey 2. Jacob Kiraz 3. Bronson Xerri 4. Stephen Crichton 5. Blake Wilson 6. Matt Burton 7. Toby Sexton 8. Max King 9. Reed Mahoney 10. Samuel Hughes 11. Jacob Preston 12. Jaeman Salmon 13. Kurt Mann 14. Bailey Hayward 15. Josh Curran 16. Kurtis Morrin 17. Lipoi Hopoi 19. Poasa Faamausili 20. Blake Taaffe 21. Jake Turpin 22. Drew Hutchison 23. Harry Hayes

Analysis: Skipper Stephen Crichton has been named and is expected to back up from Wednesday’s State of Origin series opener. His return pushes Jacob Kiraz back out to the wing. The Bulldogs’ backline has, however, copped a major blow with star winger Josh Addo-Carr ruled out for up to 10 weeks with a hamstring injury. The very capable Blake Wilson replaces him. Matt Burton will return to the halves after his Origin 18th man duties and will partner Toby Sexton, who has beat Drew Hutchison in the battle for the No.7 jersey. Meanwhile, last week’s NRL debutant Lipoi Hopoi retains his spot in the 17.

Eels team: 1. Clinton Gutherson 2. Maika Sivo 3. Viliami Penisini 4. Blaize Talagi 5. Sean Russell 6. Dylan Brown 7. Mitchell Moses 8. Reagan Campbell-Gillard 9. Brendan Hands 10. Junior Paulo 11. Kelma Tuilagi 12. Bryce Cartwright 13. J’maine Hopgood 14. Joe Ofahengaue 15. Shaun Lane 16. Makahesi Makatoa 17. Wiremu Greig 18. Daejarn Asi 19. Morgan Harper 20. Joey Lussick 21. Ryan Matterson 22. Luca Moretti

Analysis: With Bailey Simonsson ruled out for the remainder of the season (ACL rupture), an opportunity has opened up for Blaize Talagi to return to the starting side with the 19-year-old named in the centres and Sean Russell pushing out to the wing. Still no sign of Ryan Matterson, who is battling delayed concussion symptoms, while J’maine Hopgood has been named to back up from his Origin debut with Joe Ofahengaue dropping back to the bench.
