Nebraska men’s and women’s basketball will each play a game at Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota in November, according to a release. The women will play South Dakota on Nov. 16, and the men will play Saint Mary’s a day later.
The Nebraska women have never played at the Pentagon. The men have twice, most recently in a win over Oregon State in 2023 in front of a pro-Nebraska crowd despite its neutral site designation.
The men played a relatively light non-conference schedule last season; OSU was one of three power conference opponents outside of Big Ten play. Saint Mary’s, while not a high-major program, will provide an early-season measuring stick for the Huskers. The Gaels won the West Coast Conference in 2023-24 and appeared in the NCAA tournament for the third year in a row.
“Returning to the Sanford Pentagon to play Saint Mary’s is a great opportunity for our basketball team,” NU men’s coach Fred Hoiberg said in the release. “Our players and coaches enjoyed playing in Sioux Falls last year, and our fans made it a phenomenal atmosphere.”
