‘Never seen anything like it’: Chaos as Spain star hurt in post-match Euro ‘disgrace’

Must read

Spain is through to the Euro 2024 final after a 2-1 win over France but could be sweating on the availability of captain Alvaro Morata after a bizarre incident at full-time.

Morata was walking towards teammates celebrating the victory when a pitch invader ran at the group with his phone, prompting security to rush in and grab a hold of him.

Spain’s first-choice striker was caught up in the chaos though as a steward running to diffuse the situation slipped over and collided with Morata, who was then later seen walking away clutching at his right knee.

Socceroos legend John Aloisi said on Optus Sport’s coverage that he had “never ever seen” anything like it “before”.

“That’s horrible,” he added.

The final is just five days away and while Morata was able to walk away unassisted he did not look comfortable.
