Those who enjoy a little luxury shopping every now and then (especially if it’s more “now” than “then”!) are in for a treat at the new Tiffany & Co. boutique store in Cancún.
The luxury retailer’s only location on the Yucatán Peninsula and one of only a handful in Mexico, the new property opened to great fanfare recently in the ritzy La Isla Cancún shopping development. As one would expect from the world’s leading luxury jewelers, a great deal of attention has been paid to making the shopping experience a memorable one.
The store not only looks good with its coral-patterned exterior reminiscent of the region’s famous blue-hued waters, it was designed very much with the company’s commitment to sustainability in mind. In fact, the shop’s façade was 3D-printed using an innovative combination of recycled fishing nets and plastic waste recovered from the ocean.
Cancún’s New Tiffany & Co. Cancún Boutique
The interior of Cancún’s New Tiffany & Co. Boutique is equally impressive. Appealing organic shapes on the shop’s ceiling have been hand-painted with 12-karat gold leaf and were inspired by the elegant creations of jewelry designer Elsa Peretti, whose exquisite creations can be purchased here.
The color schemes used inside were also inspired by the Yucatán Peninsula, particularly the deep blue, pink, and orange tones seen around the Riviera Maya region. It’s an effect that’s even more pronounced thanks to subtle flourishes of white that were added to reflect the soft sand found roughout the area.
The store’s designers also included touches of chukum, a natural finishing technique derived from the ancient Mayans
A Reflection of the Region
Other notable features include a diamond-inspired display case that embodies the House’s modern and refined aesthetic, along with flourishes created by several local designers and artisans to represent the essence of Mexico.
Local craftsmanship is also reflected in the shop’s curated collection of art and accessories, including hand-painted ceramic mosaics, Mexican Talavera, glass objects, and hand-blown glass sculptures. Even the furniture was made locally using woven palm techniques and elegant textiles crafted exclusively for this location.
The store also features a bar that offers hospitality services for customers, as well as a private lounge, all adding up to an extremely intimate and posh shopping experience. Luxury shopping doesn’t get much better than this.
