NFL RedZone’s Scott Hanson scolds TikTokker while helping crash victims over exploiting accident for clout

Earlier this week, a video went viral showing a person going through a truck that had flipped over in an apparent wreck, discovering a watermelon inside and encountering a man who walked over and confronted him, asking, “Dude, what are you doing?”

The X account IcyVert saw the video on TikTok, and brought it over to X, asking, “BRO IS THAT SCOTT HANSON?!”

Hanson eventually chimed in.

“Yes, I am fine. I was a witness – I wasn’t in either car,” he wrote.

“Terrible crash. I checked on the survivors and then saw that jack-wagon trying to exploit the situation for his social media. I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised, but I was/am. Disheartening.”

In a separate post on X, Hanson clarified again that both drivers were OK, “[o]utside of shock, perhaps.”

While Hanson has been dutifully counting down the weekends until RedZone returns to our televisions — 13, as of this past Sunday — sports fans will be able to get a fix of him as he is one of the hosts of “Gold Zone” on NBC’s coverage of the Olympics in Paris this summer.

“The Olympic Games are like no other sporting event with up to 40 competitions happening simultaneously. Given that scale, ‘Gold Zone’ is designed to be the viewer’s best friend, streaming the most important moments in real time,” NBC Sports executive Molly Solomon said in a statement when the package was announced.

She named several other hosts in the announcement.

“Never miss a moment or a medal with ‘Gold Zone,’ and who better to guide viewers through this entertaining presentation than Scott Hanson, who does this every NFL weekend, and Olympic veterans Andrew Siciliano, Matt Iseman and Akbar Gbajabiamila,” Solomon said.
