Nintendo Switch Sports Basketball Update Lands Tomorrow | TechRaptor

Must read

Nintendo Switch Sports is officially getting basketball tomorrow, bringing its total number of available sports up to a princely eight.

Basketball was originally announced to be coming to Nintendo Switch Sports during June’s Nintendo Direct presentation, when we also saw new Zelda and Mario & Luigi games being revealed, as well as the first gameplay footage for the long-awaited Metroid Prime 4.

Now, a post on X (formerly Twitter) by Nintendo has officially confirmed that the basketball update lands on July 9th, so it won’t be long before you can enjoy the new sport alongside your friends (or alone, if that’s your bag).

Fear not, Nintendo Switch Sports avatar. Basketball awaits.

Nintendo Switch Sports‘ latest sport supports either solo play or multiplayer; you’ll be able to play either locally or online in 2v2 games, which will use motion controls.

If you’re playing locally, you can also look forward to a solo three-point challenge mode that tasks you with seeing how many three-pointers you can score, while the five-streak battle mode pits up to four players against one another.

Naturally, all of this is free, so you won’t have to pay anything extra to enjoy the latest Nintendo Switch Sports addition. You can check out the trailer for basketball in Nintendo Switch Sports right here.

Nintendo Switch Sports is the latest game in what tentatively appears to be the Wii Sports series, preceded by the original Wii Sports, 2009 sequel Wii Sports Resort, and the Wii U’s Wii Sports Club.

As well as basketball, the game also allows you to partake in sports like tennis, bowling, and chambara swordplay, plus new sports volleyball, soccer, and badminton. A seventh sport, golf, was added via free update in late 2022.

You can grab Nintendo Switch Sports right now exclusively on (where else?) Nintendo Switch. Make sure to check out our review if you want to know whether it’s worth your cash and time.
