No. 1 NFL Draft pick Caleb Williams officially signs contract with Bears | Sporting News

Must read

After months of anticipation, quarterback Caleb Williams has finally signed a contract with the Chicago Bears.

After trading with the Carolina Panthers for the No. 1 pick, the Bears selected Williams first overall in the National Football League Draft. He was one of six QBs selected in the first round, tying the NFL Draft record set in 1983.

According to a report from NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Williams has agreed to a four-year, $39.49 million fully guaranteed deal with the Bears. The contract also includes a $25.5 million signing bonus with Chicago retaining the right to a fifth-year option if things work out with the rookie quarterback.

During his college career, Williams threw for 9,782 yards and 93 touchdowns. In 2022 during his first year at USC, he was named the AP College Football Player of the Year, an All-American, the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Year, and won the Heisman Trophy, Maxwell Award, and Walter Camp Award.

This announcement comes shortly after the news that wide receiver Rome Odunze, who the Bears drafted ninth overall, has also signed his rookie contract. Chicago agreed to a four-year, $22.7 million fully guaranteed rookie deal that includes a $13.3 million signing bonus and a potential fifth-year option.

Now that these deals are officially complete, the Bears are ready for an offensive revolution that has never been seen in the team’s illustrious history.
