Canadian ATV and UTV manufacturer Can-Am was founded in 1937 and their journey into motorcycles kicked off in 1971 with the help of former motocross World Champion Jeff Smith.
Can-Am’s first enduro and motocross bikes were launched onto the market in 1973 and it wasn’t long before they became Canada’s top-selling motorcycle, winning multiple American motocross championships and achieving success at the International Six Day Enduro. In 2007, Can-Am revisited their motorcycle roots, but this time featuring three wheels, with the release of the Can-Am Spyder. Set for delivery at the end of 2024 (and 2025 for us down under) is Can-Am’s all-new electric motorcycle range – the Can-Am Origin and the Can-Am Pulse. These will be Can-Am’s first products born with electricity in mind. The market is flooded with combustion engine motorcycles – there is something for everyone – but in terms of electric bikes, manufacturers and vehicles are still trickling in. Moto land has some catching up to do on car land in this area, so it’s a ripe market to enter with plenty of opportunities.
The Can-Am Origin is designed to offer the rider a multi-terrain riding experience – on-road and off-road. The name Origin is a nod to the brand’s rich motocross history. Judging from the limited images circulating, the Origin appears to have high-ground clearance, knobby tires, spoked rims with what looks to be a 21-inch front wheel.
