Paramedics treated six others before they were taken to Dubbo and Parkes Hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Newell Highway was closed in both directions between Tomingly and Peak Hill as specialist police from the crash investigation unit examined the scene.

“The roadway is expected to remain a crime scene for a considerable amount of time and motorists are urged to avoid the area,” police said.
