Over 500 Applicants Vie for KPK Top Jobs

Must read

Jakarta. More than 500 applicants have registered themselves to the selection committee for commissioners and oversight members of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) until registration was closed at midnight on Monday.

Of that number, 318 people including 298 men and 20 women apply for commissioners. The remaining 207 — 184 men and 23 women — will compete for the KPK oversight body.

The first phase of selection is document verifications for eligible candidates whose results will be announced in a week, said Arif Satria, deputy head of the selection committee.

The committee also encourages members of the public to share information about the candidates through emails or a mobile app, Arif said.

Current commissioner Nurul Ghufron is seeking another five-year term in the commission.

“This is part of my determination to join the fight against corruption,” Nurul said.

Five high-ranking prosecutors and four police generals are also among the applicants.
