TOPEKA — A pair of Topeka West basketball coaching assistants will each lead a new program beginning next season.
Dwayne Anthony will take the helm of Hayden basketball. He replaces Trey Brown, who departed Hayden to become an assistant at NAIA’s Mid-America Nazarene.
Anthony comes to Hayden after serving as an assistant since 2018 with the Chargers.
“I’m honored and excited to join the Hayden community as the next boys’ basketball coach,” Anthony said in a press release. “This is more than just a coaching position for me as it is an opportunity to mentor young athletes in a faith-filled environment that values both academic and athletic excellence.”

The Wildcats reached the Class 3A State Tournament last season after an incredible run of play. Anthony will enjoy a young roster after the Wildcats graduated many senior contributors.
While Anthony takes over at Hayden, Marco Hunter has accepted the head coaching job at Holton. Hunter has been with the Chargers’ program since 2010.
Anthony and Hunter depart Topeka West for their new head coaching roles after Rick Bloomquist’s retirement. Bloomquist announced that he would be leaving as the Chargers’ head coach after 12 years.
In early May, Topeka West announced that Christian Ulsaker would take over and become the new head coach of Topeka West.
