Patrick Dangerfield spoke with media ahead of Geelong’s Round 19 Clash with the Bulldogs

Dangerfield on the Cats’ Current Form:

We are certainly playing more consistently.

I think that is what everyone is looking for, the competition is looking for consistency throughout quarters, we obviously had a patch there where we didn’t play our best footy.

We always felt that at some point it would turn, and really it starts at training with the behaviours that you practice and that should flow on eventually and we feel like it has.

We were well beaten in the Carlton game but we had to have a swing in that last quarter so we changed a few things around, the scoreboard doesn’t necessarily reflect the entirety of the game.

The last three weeks has been really promising, the challenge for us is to maintain that and it is a big challenge against an in form Bulldogs side this week.

Dangerfield on the Western Bulldogs

They rebound really well from half back, they move the ball incredibly fast from there so that first and foremost is a big piece of what they do.

Then they have got arguably the best player in the competition in Marcus Bontempelli, there is a few others around him that are pretty good as well.

They are a really well rounded side even though they have got some players out, so we have to be mindful of taking away their game and playing the game on our terms and they will be trying to do the opposite.

It promises to be a good game.

 Dangerfield on Geelong’s Retro Game

It is pretty special, taking us back to 1924 and obviously there is a huge amount of history there with Carji Greeves, what he means to our club and more broadly to the competition.

It is something special, something we have done for a while now and we think it honours the past heritage of the club.

As a player you love running around in a guernsey that once upon a time was rolling around Kardinia Park.

It is something that our guys really embrace and the club has embraced, I think the supporters enjoy it as well.

Dangerfield on the Cats’ New Look Forward Line

It is a work in progress, it is still not perfect but it is improving.

Shannon has provided a really good target as a young, up and coming key forward.

He just has to keep embracing and attacking every contest, sometimes you will cop a few whacks like he did on the weekend.

I feel like his form has been really impressive for us, started the game exceptionally well obviously and I think he has a lot to offer.

Then you match that with the smalls that we have down there, Tyson is having a wonderful season but we have a lot of other players in that forward area that are playing good footy as well.

Then Jez is arguably one of the best forwards in the game, he is a handful for any defender.
