PAX Australia has revealed its keynote “Storytime Speaker” for this year’s event in Melbourne on the weekend of October 11th-13th, tapping the always-delightful Julian Wilton, Creative Director at Cult of the Lamb developer Massive Monster, for the honour.
Julian’s Storytime will open the PAX Aus 2024 proceedings in the main theatre at noon on Friday, October 11th, where he’ll discuss his journey into game development, the huge success of Massive Monster and the beloved Cult of the Lamb along with earlier hits like Adventure Pals (still a favourite of mine), as well as the journey to securing the studio’s major publishing deal with the folks over at Devolver Digital.
Alongside the keynote, PAX Aus has also revealed it’s invited Canadian voice actor, Mark Meer, to this year’s event. Meer has appeared in a number of games including the iconic lead role of the male Commander Shepard in Mass Effect, the Baldur’s Gate and Dragon Age franchises, The Long Dark, Gotham Knights and last year’s MythForce.
And that’s not all! PAX Aus veteran and obnoxiously-funny comedian, John Robertson will return with his live-action video game, The Dark Room, which has seen global success at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and other events around the world. If you’ve never experienced the ridiculousness of this interactive comedy/game show, this will be your chance to see it first-hand.
The PAX Aus team has promised there’s even more to come (including the return of Sea Shanties) in further announcements between now and the weekend of PAX Aus 2024.
Keen PAX-goers are able to jump onto the PAX Aus official website and purchase their badges as of right now and until they sell out. Three-day badges have already dried up, with single-day badges for Friday, Saturday and Sunday available for $75 each. The dates and times for the expo are as below:
