Have you ever needed a pick-me-up and sought a cheeky cup of coffee after 2pm in Perth, only to be out of luck?
Well, you’re not the only one.
American TikTok creator Gabe Pietrafesa has come face-to-face with Perth’s bizarre retail situation in a desperate search to find a caffeine hit.
“I’m drinking a Red Bull, but I want to find coffee,” Pietrafesa says in the video.
In his search for a caffeine hit, he comes across a coffee shop, but the cafe’s hours are 6am to 2pm.
Not to be deterred, he finds a restaurant and asks: “Do you guys do coffee?”
Only to be left disappointed by the news that their coffee machine is out of order.
“Coffee machine was down? What is this? McDonald’s in America with the ice cream machine?” he scoffs.
“Don’t play me like that,” he adds.
Walking further down the road like a man stuck in the desert searching for an oasis, he comes across another cafe.
“I’m sorry, we’re closed,” they say as he opens the door.
“I’m starting to wonder if Perth hates me,” he says as he comes across another closed sign.
Eventually, he comes across a pub and gets an iced-long black.
In the comments, West Aussies rushed to assure him that Perth doesn’t hate just him but everybody who wants a coffee after 2pm.
“Classic Perth, every cafe closes at 2pm,” one wrote.
“Perth’s closing times will never fail to shock me,” wrote another.
However, someone gave a possible reason for the early close time: “They close at 2pm so the pubs can open.”
