In another major exclusive event for Perth, and the first of its kind in Australia, WA will host four elite women’s football teams for the Perth International Football Cup in August and September this year.

Perth will welcome Women’s Super League (WSL) teams Manchester City, West Ham United, and Leicester City, as well as Paris Saint-Germain from France’s top women’s league, Division 1 Fminine, for matches between 26 August and 1 September 2024.

Australian star players Mary Fowler, Alanna Kennedy, Mackenzie Arnold, Katrina Gorry, Clare Hunt and Courtney Nevin are among the current players set to head to Perth as part of the four teams, fresh off the 2024 Paris Olympics.

As part of the competitive exhibition tournament, each football team will play two matches with the winners playing off in the Final, as well as participate in additional engagement activities surrounding the event in a week-long festival of football.

The initial two mid-week matches will take place at HBF Park, with Optus Stadium to host all four teams in a finals double header on the weekend.

The WSL is the highest profile women’s football league in the world and the women’s equivalent of the English Premier League, with 94 WSL players competing in the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023.

The event is anticipated to attract thousands of out-of-state visitors and generate millions in visitor spend, supporting local WA businesses.

The Perth International Football Cup is the next in a growing collection of world-class women’s football events hosted in WA, following the success of the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 which generated over $25 million for the WA economy, along with the recently announced AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026.

Hosting the Perth International Football Cup is part of WA’s vision for events, promoting the State as a world-class event destination, and delivering an always-on calendar of events for West Australians and visitors alike to enjoy.
