Perth’s largest sushi train — measuring an impressive 114 metres and accommodating 126 people — has opened at a popular south of the river shopping centre.
Sushi Jiro has thrown open the doors to its Westfield Carousel venue — the beloved Japanese restaurant brand’s first Perth location.
The eatery is set to blend traditional and modern elements of sushi making, offering both freshly prepared sushi and a la carte options delivered to diners by the sushi train and sushi robots.
CEO Anna Kasman said the exciting move into Perth has been in the makings for a while.
“Opening our first Perth Sushi Jiro Sushi Train has been a long time coming, and we couldn’t be more excited and proud to be on the other side of the country. It is a significant step for us and marks a huge milestone in our national expansion plans,” Ms Kasman said.
“We are excited to establish a strong presence in Perth, and when debating our first location, Westfield Carousel just made sense. It is a prime area that attracts a diverse and large customer base, offering excellent visibility and accessibility for introducing Sushi Jiro to a new market.
The opening comes after Sushi Jiro unveiled the largest sushi train in the southern hemisphere in Brisbane last month, with Ms Kasman confirming plans to expand further in Australia and Perth.
“We expect a very positive response from the Perth community. In warmer climates, people flock to sushi because it’s refreshing and healthy. We can’t wait to see happy Sushi Jiro diners at Westfield Carousel and to continue our expansion throughout Perth,” said Anna.
The Carousel venue — which boasts a Google rating of 4.2 stars — will be open seven days a week from 11am to 9pm.
