Petrol station giant’s next 99c fuel sale revealed

Must read

Melbourne drivers are the next in line to benefit from petrol prices at one service station dropping to 99c per litre.

Queues of cars are expected at Metro Petroleum on Mahoneys Rd in Thomastown, in Melbourne’s north, on Tuesday.

Motorists will be able to fill up on a variety of cut-price fuels — including petrol, diesel and gas — at the bargain price between 3pm and 5pm.

The deal is part of a promotion between rewards club Dreams Come True (DCT) and Metro Petroleum.

Last month, the same deal was offered at service stations in Punchbowl and Figtree in NSW and it was hugely popular, with queues of cars snaking from of the stations during the sale.

“It’s Melbourne’s turn now,” founder of DCT Club Jon Tsingolis said.

“I’m very much looking forward to doing the same around Australia throughout the year.”

After launching the offer last month, DCT said the 99c per litre sale would occur at a different Metro Petroleum servo on the first Tuesday of each month, in line with the Reserve Bank of Australia’s interest rate meetings.

There were huge lines of thirsty cars when the promotion was run for the first time in Sydney’s southwest.

Outside of the sale hours, unleaded petrol was advertised at Metro Petroleum Punchbowl for 192.7c and drivers were keen to take advantage of the almost $1 per litre in savings.

One ute driver in the line brought his 600L fuel tank and told 7NEWS he intended to fill it up.

Others said the promotion was saving them half their usual spend on petrol.

“I’m happy to wait,” another motorist said.

“If I have to push the car, I have to push the car.”
