The PGA Tour has made its annual trip to TPC Deere Run for this year’s John Deere Classic, with the likes of Jordan Spieth, Jason Day and Sungjae Im all in action
Some of the world’s best players are in action at TPC Deere Run this week, with an exciting finale of the John Deere Classic expected in Sunday’s final round.
A trip to the United Kingdom awaits for the PGA Tour, with the Scottish Open and British Open Championship at Royal Troon right around the corner. Before that though, there is still work to do on American soil with the annual John Deere taking place in Silvis, Illinois.
Despite being one of the most recognized events on the PGA Tour schedule, the event at TPC Deere Run was not granted ‘Signature Event’ status by Jay Monahan and co, ensuring a slightly smaller purse will be on offer to some of the circuit’s other tournaments.

In total, PGA Tour bosses handed eight events Signature status, which saw those chosen host a purse totaling up to an eye-watering $20 million, with $4 million of that being handed to the winner. The decision to implement these financial changes came on the back of the formation of LIV Golf.
LIV – which is bankrolled by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF) – was able to lure in a whole host of the PGA Tour’s biggest names including Phil Mickelson, Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, Bryson DeChambeau, and more recently former world No. 1 Jon Rahm.
The Saudi-backed league allows players to compete for a $25 million prize pot each tournament, with $20 million on offer in the individual event, with $5 million split across the top three performing teams each week. In a bid to warn off the LIV threat, the PGA Tour matched their rival’s $20 million purse across eight events each season.
Sadly for the John Deere Classic, they failed to be one of those picked, with a much smaller prize on offer compared to their LIV Golf counterparts. Despite this, those in action still have the chance to add a healthy figure to their season earnings, with an $8 million purse being handed out on Sunday.
The man who will walk away from TPC Deere Run as the 2024 champion will also take home a cool $1.44 million winner’s check to go along with the title. The player who finishes as runner-up in second will bank $872,000, whilst the man a further spot back in third wins $552,000.
