Player agent offers contract updates on key unrestricted free agent duo

Must read

Hemisphere Management’s Tom Seccull has given an update on two of the agency’s most talked about out-of-contract clients.

The duo in question are St Kilda’s Josh Battle and West Coast co-captain Liam Duggan, with the duo both unrestricted free agents at season’s end.

Battle has been linked to Melbourne, Hawthorn and Collingwood and Seccull says there’s no timeline on when he expects a decision to be made.

He says that Hempishere’s Managing Director Alex McDonald is working closely with the defender and St Kilda as the 25-year-old weighs up his next move.

“‘JB’ is having a fantastic year behind the footy and up forward at stages,” Seccull said on AFL.com.au’s Gettable.

“Like all of these decisions, there’s a lot of variables that come into it and a lot of factors that influence decisions.

“Josh has recently had his first child and he’s working through that as well.

“There’s no timeline on it at this stage but Alex McDonald is working really closely with JB and the club.

“I’m sure that’ll play out as the year goes on.”

As for Duggan, Seccull says that talks between the Eagles and the Victorian are moving forward.

He expects a deal to be sorted for the co-captain soon as negotiations enter the final stages.”

“(The deal is) almost done, it’s moving forward which is positive,” Seccull said.

“It’s probably taken a little longer than we would have liked but ‘Duggo’ is a terrific character and a terrific player as well.

“He’s been really durable and has played some consistent footy as a co-captain.

“Again, Alex is working through things and there’s a new list manager and CEO coming in, there’s always a different strategy and reset with negotiations.

“But it’s moving forward and we’re confident there’ll be an outcome soon.”

The 27-year-old has played 171 games for West Coast and is averaging 23.9 disposals, 5.5 rebound 50s and 3.8 inside 50s in 2024.
