Police appeal for driver to come forward as pedestrian killed in Melbourne hit-and-run

A pedestrian has died in hospital after being struck by two cars while crossing a road in Melbourne’s southeast.

Victoria Police said the woman was walking across Stud Rd in Dandenong at 9pm on Friday when she was hit by a silver Mercedes sedan.

She was thrown into the centre of the north bound lanes then struck by a second car.

Paramedics rushed the woman to hospital, where she later died.

Police said the driver of the second car did not stop at the scene and continued travelling north towards Rowville.

The Mercedes driver is assisting police with their enquiries.

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for the driver of the second car, a dark coloured SUV, or anyone with information about the vehicle or the driver involved, to come forward.

They have released a photo of the car.

Witnesses are urged to call Crime Stoppers.
