Police have declared an emergency and locked down streets as they respond to an incident in North Queensland.
Police say a situation, the exact details of which are not clear, is unfolding in the Townsville suburb of West End.
An exclusion zone was established at 10am and encompasses Francis Street, Montgomery Street, Gordon Street, Douglas Street and Chandler Street.
The public is advised to avoid the area and traffic diversions are in place.
Those within the boundaries are urged to remain indoors until further notice.
