A new wave of photos have revealed the minor injuries that Louisville police Det. Bryan Gillis suffered during the traffic incident involving Scottie Scheffler outside Valhalla Golf Club
Newly released photos of the minor injuries that Louisville police Det. Bryan Gillis sustained moments before Scottie Scheffler’s arrest at the PGA Championship last month have been released – prompting an amused reaction from many golf fans online.
On Friday, a collection of images showcased small scrapes on Gillis’ wrist and knee, as well as a tear in his pants that he suffered during a May 17 traffic stop involving Scheffler. According to the Louisville Metro Police Department report, Gillis attempted to stop the world No. 1 golfer from going around traffic outside Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, but ended up being “pinned” to his car and dragged onto the road.
Immediately following the incident, Scheffler was placed in handcuffs and escorted to jail, but was soon after released. The 27-year-old was able to return to Valhalla in time for the second round of the PGA Championship, finishing the day 5-under 66.

Scheffler initially faced several charges, including felony second-degree assault of a police officer, but all four were dropped last week.
Taking to social media, many fans poked fun at Gillis’ injuries, which they deemed underwhelming relative to the initial accusations. “7 year old me showing off my injuries to the girls at recess,” one X user wrote, with another adding: “Someone send him a box of Dora the Explorer band-aids and some Neosporin.”
Others took aim at his tattered pants, with someone writing: “My tailor would fix that for $7.” A different fan expressed a similar sentiment, stating: “Louisville gonna lose tens of millions of dollars over what could have been fixed with a can of FlexSeal.”

Not everyone appears to be laughing about the situation, however. Addressing the incident for the first time since the charges against him were dropped, Scheffler conceded that the experience was quite traumatic.
“I definitely hadn’t moved past it,” he told reporters on Tuesday. “I would say that I still, you know, wouldn’t have a hundred percent moved past it because, yeah, the charges are dropped, but I still — now it’s almost more appropriate for people to ask me about it and ask me about the situation and, to be honest with you, it’s not something that I love reliving, just because it was fairly traumatic for me being arrested going into the golf course.
“It’s not something that I love talking about and it’s something that I’m hoping to move past, but when the charges are dropped, that’s kind of only the beginning of kind of getting past it, if that makes sense. So kind of operating through that now. It was definitely a bit of a relief, but not total relief because that’s something that will always, I think, kind of stick with me.”
Fortunately for Scheffler, there appears to be no bad blood between him and Gillis. The Louisville cop playfully ranted about his destroyed pair of pants last Wednesday, writing: “Yes, the department has us buying freaking $80 pants. To those concerned, they were indeed ruined. But Scottie, it’s all good. I never would’ve guessed I’d have the most famous pair of pants in the country for a few weeks because of this. Take care and be safe.”
