A police officer has rescued an elderly woman from a burning unit in Adelaide’s north-west.
Emergency services were called to Military Road at Semaphore South at 12:30am to reports a unit was on fire.
SA Police said the 90-year-old woman was trying to escape through the front door but could not get out because of mobility issues.
Senior Constable Rebecca Stokes said the officer entered the unit, carried the woman out of the burning unit and onto the street away from the fire.
“The patrol officer entered the unit, which was well ablaze at that time, carried the 90-year-old woman out of the inferno and down the street away from the fire.”
The woman suffered smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital for treatment, while the officer was assessed by paramedics for minor smoke inhalation.
Police said occupants of a nearby unit were evacuated.
The fire is not suspicious but police said they did not know what started the blaze.
