Prince Harry is “threatened” by Donald Trump’s potential presidency as he could to strip the Duke of his US visa over a drug confession and lies, a royal expert has claimed.
Writer and broadcaster Esther Krakue says Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could be at risk of losing their mansion in Montecito amid the Duke of Sussex’s ongoing visa row.
A conservative think tank, the Heritage Foundation, last year took legal action took legal action against the Department of Homeland Security, demanding the Prince’s visa application be released to the public.
Ms Krakue joined Sky News host Caroline Di Russo to discuss what it would mean for the Sussexes if Prince Harry’s US visa was revoked.
“It could also potentially mean he loses his mansion in Montecito if his visa is revoked; he’ll have no choice but to return to the UK where he and his wife don’t have official residence anymore,” Ms Krakue said.
“So it could turn very nasty.
“But I think, at the moment, they’re hoping the judge will choose to side with the White House and not with the other documents in his visa application.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex in 2020 moved to the celebrity enclave of Montecito in California where they have settled into life as ex-working royals with their two children and a mansion amid US President Joe Biden’s reign.
Yet, the Sussexes’ lucrative American dream is marred by Trump’s possible reclaiming of the oval office, as he threatens to jeopardise Harry’s residency status due to the Duke’s previous drug confession in his shock memoir Spare.
In the memoir, Harry admitted he dabbled with hallucinogenic drug magic mushrooms and experimented with Cannabis.
“I stared at the bin. It stared back. ‘What-staring? ‘Then it became… a head. I stepped on the pedal and the head opened its mouth. A huge open grin,” he said.
Heritage Foundation, a think tank group, subsequently launched a lawsuit against the Duke and accused the rebel prince of lying about his drug use on his application and benefiting from preferential treatment.
Applicants are required to disclose any history of drug use when they compete the form, which is currently under scrutiny by Washington DC Judge Carl Nichols.
Royal expert Tom Quinn on Thursday told the UK’s Mirror Harry and Meghan sought legal advice over fears Trump may strip the Duke of his visa due the alleged dishonesty and if the politician succeeds Biden in the looming November election.
“The couple have taken legal advice because they’re seriously worried that if Donald Trump wins the next election Harry’s visa may be revoked,” he said.
“Trump has insisted that if Harry is found to have lied on his visa application about his admitted drug taking, he could be asked to leave the country.
“Harry initially thought this couldn’t possibly happen to him as the normal rules don’t apply to a Royal Prince, but he is increasingly realising that in the United States being a Prince doesn’t actually count for very much.”
The commentator said Harry deeply regrets publicising his drug use and never thought his damning spilling-of-secrets “might end up threatening his whole life plan”.
The trouble comes as GN News reported Meghan is seeking a “remote island” for the couple and their two children Prince Archie, 5, and Princess Lilibet, 3, amid July 4 celebrations.
“She wants to use the next couple of months relaxing and having fun after a stressful year so far,” they said.
“Meghan wants to get away with Harry and the kids to a remote island so they can just have fun as a family without any outside pressure and be in complete luxury.
“Archie and Lilibet are at that age now where they can do more adventurous stuff and Meghan has even talked about a trip to Disneyland as she knows they will be well looked after there and how much the children would love.”
