Summer workouts for Purdue basketball are scheduled to begin next week.

Catchings verbally committed to Purdue in September 2022. At the time of his signing last November, Catchings was ranked 22nd in the Class of 2024 by 247Sports, the second-highest rated recruit in Painter’s tenure.

“Kanon has asked for his release from his scholarship and we have granted him that request,” Purdue head coach Matt Painter said in a release. “We wish him luck in his future endeavors.”

Catchings was a part of a six-player signing class that also included Jack Benter, Gicarri Harris, Daniel Jacobsen, Raleigh Burgess and CJ Cox.
