Purdue basketball’s Matt Painter to coach with Team USA select ahead of 2024 Summer Olympics

WEST LAFAYETTE — Matt Painter’s extensive history coaching with Team USA basketball continues this summer.

The Purdue men’s basketball coach will be an assistant on USA’s men’s select team that will train with the USA men’s national team from July 6-8 in Las Vegas to prepare the roster for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Painter coached alongside Orlando Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley and Indiana Pacers assistant Jim Boylen with the select team a year ago with the select team to prepare the men’s national team ahead of the FIBA Men’s World Cup.

Painter has been coaching with USA basketball since 2009 when he helped the U19 team win a gold medal at the FIBA World Championships as an assistant coach. Painter was the head coach for the United States in the 2011 and 2017 World University Games.

The men’s select roster includes Trayce Jackson-Davis and Brandin Podziemski (Golden State Warriors), Jalen Duren (Detroit Pistons), Jaime Jacquez (Miami Heat), Brandon Miller (Charlotte Hornets), Trey Murphy (New Orleans Pelicans), Keegan Murray (Sacramento Kings), Micah Potter (Utah Jazz), Payton Pritchard (Boston Celtics), Jabari Smith and Amen Thompson (Houston Rockets), Jalen Suggs (Orlando Magic), Cooper Flagg (Duke University) Langston Galloway and Nigel Hayes-Davis.
